Matthew Marsh will start the Nürburgring 24-hours for the sixth time on Saturday.
Last year Ian Haynes-Bowers was in this seat reporting about the fate of Matthew, who raced the #51 Porsche in the 24 Hours for Bonk Motorsport. The effort ended in steering failure during Matthew's first stint behind the wheel early in the race. For pictures of whole expensive episode go here.
Matthew puts the Nordschleife near the top of the heap of his favorite racing circuits and certainly the "Green Hell" has been kinder on previous visits. Here is a summary of his track record at the Nürburgring:
2008 Nürburgring 24-hours – Aston Martin V8 Vantage, class win (18th overall); VLN Nürburgring 4-hours – Aston Martin.
2007: Nürburgring 24-hours – Porsche GT3, 97th overall.
2006 Nürburgring 24-hours - Porsche GT3, 2nd in class (10th overall).
2005 Nurburgring Vodafone Maserati Trofeo: 9th .
2000 Nürburgring 24-hours - BMW M3, 3rd in class; also Nürburgring 4-hours.
