Hideki Noda is aboard the Flex-Box Lola-Mazda for the last time aiming to bring the car home in the classified finishers - bad breaking news brings TV pictures of the car on fire in the entrance to the pitlane - a safety car had been deployed after Seiji Ara in the #5 Porsche crashed at the first chicane on Mulsanne. Le Mans continues to bite even as we approach the last hour.
Many commiserations to Hideki Noda, Matthew Marsh and Jean de Portales for they stuck to the knitting when all seemed lost - the final irony is the car gave up the ghost within sight of the finish. We are watching Noda sitting in the car as marshals push him down the pitlane back to the team to see what can be done. Extinguisher foam everywhere. Total snafu. RLT.
