Approaching 16:30 here at Spa when first practice for the Spa 1000kms sports car race will take place. The session will last for 1½ hours and will be the fastest Matthew Marsh has travelled round the Spa circuit, having competed here previously in a Radical sports car and a Group N BMW.
Update: Conditions overcast, drizzle threatening. This from Matthew Marsh: "Yep, 90min session. We will try to run 30mins each. But currently a drama in the garage with something in the engine bay. Not sure what. Hideki Noda will go first. An installation lap on the engine rebuilt after Barcelona; then about 10mins on the tyres we had in Barcelona. Then balance of 30mins on new tyres of softer compound. These will stay on car for balance of session to see how they wear i.e. can they manage a double stint of 90mins? I will go second, Francesco third."
Update: Session has just started here in Spa - car #39 yet to take to circuit.
