Of course this test was more about me than the car: could I move from driving GT cars to a 'prototype'? From cars which use mechanical grip to one which uses aerodynamic downforce to push the car onto the track's surface.
The simple answer was yes. My times improved with each run in the car and I ended-up about two seconds slower than Francesco Sini who is quite experienced in 'aero' cars. I believe there is more to come as I gain confidence with the car - and the concept that the faster it goes the more grip it has!
I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the German KSM team. Their Lola-Mazda ran in the Le Mans Series and at Le Mans last year. They know what they are doing in and go about their business without drama. Now we're going to think about what to do this year. Stay tuned for news!
